Just finished outting a cut off Rasak (sp) dual wall head pipe fitted with an HD/Screamin Eagle packed muffler. Think I finally found the combination I was looking for. I had been using a Highway Hawk drag pipe cut off for a exhaust head pipe, but I found the single thin wall to be not quicte what I was looking for in the exhaust sound. Single wall headers on cars seem to ping for a lack of a better description and this one pinged when I used a muffler on it. Also seemed like the sound was coming more from the engine than the end of the muffler. I purchased the used Rasak(sp) from George and finally cleared the hoist of other thumper projects. Cutting the pipe was not easy, it is very heavy wall and I was using a tubing cutter designed for exhaust systems. Then I had to hacksaw the inner pipe off. Thought I was on wasy street and then discovered there was aspot weld 1/4 in from the end holding the inner and outer pipes from rattling. Used up many of my wifes dremel bits carving that weld out and cleaning up the edge from the roller cutter. The HD muffler fits inside the exhuast pipe and over the inside pipe with a little bumping of a rubber mallet. Using a new gasket on the head to exhaust pipe flange bolted it up. Was about an inch longer than the HH pipe so the muffler bracket holes had to be messed with. Started up, no leaks and all the exhaust sound was out the back. Took a ride. Definitely better low speed response, can run 35 MPH in 5th at a nice smooth putt now, before I had to run the 35 zones in 4th or jerk along in 5th. Will pull smoothly from about 32 indicated to 82 in 5th. Seat of the pants is better throttle repsonse clear up to 60 - 65. May have lost about 3 MPH top end and some top end HP. Cost would be expensive if I had used a new head pipe, think George said they run over $250 new. Also I got the pair of HD mufflers on sale last spring. Give me a week and I'll let you know online of the HH drag pipe as modified is available, being thin (very thin by comparasion) wall it turned color and looks very ridden at this point. Also if the person who needed a baffle to satisify the noise police wants to contact me about the one in the Rasak it is available.

BTW The Rasak flyer that George included showed a luggage rack for Savages that slides down in the sissy bar holes and provides a taller bar with a tube rack out back. Maybe one of our Swedish riders could tell us the cost and possible purchase site.
